GeneralInformation

What is Jr. Jags?
It is the competitive arm of Windsor Baseball  aimed at players who demonstrate advanced skills. Depending on interest, we anticipate 4 travel teams: 9U, 10U, 11U and 12U consisting of a minumum of 10 players and a maximum 12 players.

Travel ball  is a highly competitive environment. It gives those players that want to go above and beyond the normal recreational league an outlet to play. Those selected should expect to attend extra practices in preparation for competition so committment is very important.

NOTE FOR 2012:
All teams are being formed from the ground up. Prior participation does not guarantee a spot on a team (for players OR coaches).

The following rules have been established for team player & coach selection:

  • Player must be registered and play on a Windsor Baseball recreational team
  • Player evaluations will be done by unbiased 3rd party assessors
  • All interested players MUST attend assessments
  • Once team rosters are chosen by the assessors, all interested coaches will be interviewed and chosen by the assessors
  • If assessors determine that there is not enough players at a high enough skill level to form a competitive team, we will not field a team for the age level in question
  • If it is determined that there is enough skilled players to field two teams in an age level and there are interested and qualified coaches, we may establish two teams
  • Players may 'play up' as long as their abilities warrant placement on an older team

Tournaments:
Teams normally travel to tournaments in areas such as Sunnyvale, Manteca and Rancho Cordova (to name just a few) - locations within a 2 hour drive.  Teams may elect to stay overnight, every family has the option to return home each evening. Tournament hosts typically arrange reduced rates for local hotels. Arrangements will made for player to remain at location if a family decides not to stay overnight.

Fees:
Families can expect to pay approximately $50 per player/per tournament.

Fundraising:
Teams may choose to fundraiser/obtain sponsors to offset costs such as entry fees and/or uniforms.
